Every year, thousands of engineers come out after studying in college, they need to be trained according to the market. Every year lakhs of Engineers come out from engineering colleges across the country, but very few people get jobs of their choice. According to the 2019 report of the Employment Assessment Aspiring Minds, 80 percent of engineers studying in colleges are not eligible for employment. It has been mentioned in the report that most engineers are not skilled, but forgetting all these things, today we are talking about career options after B.Tech, where you can make your future. 1. IES Examination (Indian Engineering Services)

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts examination for recruitment in Indian Engineering Services (IES).

IES examination is held every year to recruit Engineers for Technical–Managerial positions. The IES exam consists of three stages — PRELIMS, MAINS and then an INTERVIEW.

Selected candidates are posted in various government departments and ministries.

2. Public Sector Unit (PSU)

PSUs select candidates based on their GATE scores, while some give separate exams for recruitment.

Organizations like Coal India Limited (CIL), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) conduct separate exams to recruit Engineers every year.

3. GATE Examination (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)

The GATE exam is conducted every year for admission to ME, MTech and Ph.D. courses from various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc). GATE exam is conducted by IITs and IISc.

After MTech, anyone can do jobs or do research in a particular field. The GATE score is valid for three years and the GATE exam tests comprehension of various engineering and science graduate subjects.

4. CAT Examination (Common Aptitude Test)

The Common Aptitude Test (CAT) is a computer based examination conducted every year for admission to premier management colleges such as Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) and the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS).

The CAT exam tests verbal ability and reading comprehension, quantitative ability, data interpretation and logical reasoning.

Entrepreneurship is an option that can be chosen by Engineering Graduates after completing B.Tech. The Government of India also helps start-ups by providing funds and other facilities. There are many schemes to help such entrepreneurs such as Startup India and MUDRA scheme.
